We are looking for a scientist to join our assay development team in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina!

You are a lab ninja

  • You have conducted experimental research or project design involving at least one or more of the following: biological and biochemical assays, statistical analysis, compositional analysis of milk or other complex liquids, literature review
  • You are comfortable performing critical analyses and interpreting data for actionable decision-making that impacts the greater company 
  • Optimization of process for high-throughput assays unlocks team time and flowing on an experimental platform is in your nature
  • You are a meticulous record-keeper and sponge of team knowledge
  • Your voice is valued and you actively engage in regular scientific and broader all-hands team meetings

Qualifications & Preferred Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, immunology, biology, or a related field with preference for 1-2 years work experience
  • Required
    • Strong background in cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry with emphasis on small molecules-protein interactions
    • Background knowledge of cell physiology and behavior, including cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions, signaling cascades, intracellular transport, and polarization 
    • Hands-on research experience in a laboratory environment, including independent hypothesis generation, experimental design, implementation, and analysis
      • Demonstrated proficiency with mammalian cell culture and aseptic technique
      • Strength in experimental design, execution, and data analysis using multiple assay platforms working with mammalian cells
      • Experience measuring protein expression levels, turn-over and synthesis rates: western blot, ELISA, reporter assays, etc.
      • Experience with biochemistry techniques, including lysate preparation, electrophoresis, Western blotting, and 'metabolomic' analyses; enzymatic or immunological assays such as ELISA
    • Experience writing ELN reports summarizing the experimental design and outcome of each experiment
  • Preferred
    • Experience with immune-based techniques such as flow cytometry, cell sorting, immunohistochemistry, etc
    • Experience with primary cell cultures, co-cultures, and/or 3D-organotypic cultures
    • Experience with mammalian cell culture using multiple formats, including 2D, Transwell, organoid, etc
    • Experience with mammalian cell line generation, preferred with adherent cell types, including primary tissue processing and cell immortalization, selection, and screening based on desired characteristics
    • Prior knowledge or experience bioreactor systems for mammalian protein production, and media development/screening
