We are looking for a cell biologist or bio-engineer to join our team in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina!

You are a lab ninja

  • You feel comfortable preparing cell culture media and maintaining mammalian cells on a daily basis with aseptic techniques
  • You have conducted experimental research or project design involving at least one or more of the following: cell culture, biological and biochemical assays, small-scale engineering design, statistical analysis, coding for life sciences, literature review
  • You are comfortable performing critical analyses and interpreting data for actionable decision-making that impacts the greater company
  • Optimization of process and flow is in your nature
  • You are a meticulous record-keeper and sponge of team knowledge
  • Your voice is valued and you actively engage in regular scientific and broader all-hands team meetings

Qualifications & Preferred Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in molecular, cell, or developmental biology, tissue engineering, or similar, preference given to 1-2 years of work experience
  • Required
    • College-level coursework and/or experience in 3D cell culture and principles of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine
    • Hands-on research laboratory experience, including independent hypothesis generation, experimental design, implementation, and analysis
      • Demonstrated proficiency with aseptic technique and mammalian cell culture using multiple formats, including 2D, Transwell, organoid, and bioreactor model
      • Experience with some or all of the following biochemistry techniques: lysate preparation, electrophoresis, Western blotting, enzymatic or immunological assays such as ELISA.
      • Comfort in biological specimen preparation and evaluation, including histological sectioning, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, wide field and confocal microscopy, flow cytometry and cell sorting
    • Background knowledge of cell physiology and behavior, including cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions, signaling cascades, intracellular transport, and 
  • Preferred
    • Knowledge of recombinant DNA technology, biological assays, and light microscopy 
    • Knowledge of biological manufacturing processes, such as monoclonal antibody production, recombinant protein production, and small scale bioreactors
    • Knowledge of cell-based manufacturing, understanding of cell culture scale-up and/or bioprocess and bioreactor design considerations
    • Experience with mammalian cell line generation, preferred with adherent cell types, including primary tissue processing and cell immortalization, selection, and screening based on desired characteristics
